You probably have this one at home too! Lavender oil, one of the most well-known and most applicable essential oils that should certainly not be missing from your collection.
The autumn period is all about the theme of letting go. A perfect time to dive a little deeper into the beauty of Lavender oil. Lavender not only provides relaxation, but also peace in your body and mind, which, among other things, allows thoughts to be better organized.
The distillation process
The essential oil of (true) lavender is obtained by steam distillation of the flowers of the plant Lavandula Angustifolia.

With this method, water is heated (1) and the steam extracts the essential oils from the plant material (2). The rising steam carries these essential oils with it, among other things, and is cooled again via pipes (3) and then collected in a separate boiler (4).
As soon as the steam cools down to (distillation) water, most of the essential oil floats on the water surface and can therefore be easily separated. The remaining fragrant distillation water is used as a hydrosol (hydrosol) and is also a wonderful product to use.
The operation and application
Lavender was previously used by the Greeks and Romans. They used lavender for a nice scent in a room and flowers were used in bath water for both the wonderful scent and the soothing effect. Most likely that is also where the name comes from, lavare means to wash in Latin.
